If you are looking for in budget homemade kind of food, Delhi-39 is the best place to be. This restaurant was like a second home to me and my college friends. Whenever we felt like, we are not in the mood for mess food today, we knew we had to go to Delhi-39. Simple hot thin rotis with great flavorful curries. The ambiance is very simple, nothing fancy.
The restaurant is pure veg. They serve the food with unlimited vinegar onions and mint chutney. Some of my favorite food items are masala papad, classic dal tadka, mushroom do pyaza, paneer do pyaza, shahi paneer, Tawa mushroom, handi Paneer, and chana masala paired with lachha paratha, garlic naan, stuffed kulchas. Do try their onion and gobi parathas too. The prices are very reasonable. We have had a filling meal in just 250-300 bucks for two people many times.
Detailed Food Review:
Paneer butter masala: Little bit on the sweeter side, so if you want a spicy paneer dish then I would suggest going for Tawa or Kadai Paneer.
Tawa Paneer: It has big rectangular shahi paneer like chunks of paneer, first heated on a Tawa, and put into the gravy, giving that beautiful charred tawa flavor. Would Recommend.
Kadai Paneer: Medium spicy gravy, big chunks of onions and bell peppers, and paneer. I personally don’t choose it because I am not a big fan of bell peppers. Otherwise, the taste of gravy is pretty good.
Delhi-39 special paneer lababdar: I didn’t like it at all, it was filled with dry fruits. SO recommended for people who like dry fruits in their gravy, else don’t order it.
Mushroom masala: My all-time favorite dishes, they serve a good quantity of mushrooms in it. And the medium spicy gravy tastes pretty good.
Mushroom Do pyaza: Almost similar in taste as mushroom masala additionally with big onion pieces. Would recommend both of these to mushroom lovers.
Garlic Naan, Onion/ Mixed Kulchas, Gobi Paratha, Onion Paratha and Lachha Paratha: All these are really good. Nicely made. Cooked properly.
Or if you want to go for simple food their simple tawa roti is actually like eating homemade phulkas.
